- Approving the purchase of two police vehicles.

- Approving the planned development at 1313-1351 W. 175th St. by Apparel Redefined, which plans to renovate an existing building for its headquarters and build its manufacturing facility.
- Approving an agreement with the owner of 2049 Ridge Road to allow the village to install a mural on the building’s east wall.
- Approving an agreement with the owner of The Hartford, 2033 Ridge Road, to allow the village to install LED lighting on the west wall of the building, illuminating the alleyway between 2033 and 2049 Ridge Road.
- Approving the purchase of 18155 Dixie Highway, formerly Delanoe’s Pizza.
- Approving the purchase of an aerial truck for the Public Works Department for just under $200,000.

Wednesday, Oct. 9
Architect John V. McPherson: Homewood’s Master Modernist. The Homewood Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Following a brief business meeting, architectural historian Alfred Willis will present a program on architect John McPherson, whose work in the mid-20th century can still be seen in Homewood today.
HF Theatre Booster Club. The club will meet at 7 p.m. in Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave. The meeting will be an opportunity to get to know what the club does and what its plans are.
Thursday, Oct. 10
Police Accountability Reform Town Hall Meeting. Cara Wilson and Rabbi Michael Ben Yosef will hold a town hall session on police accountability at Prairie State College, 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. Their special guest will be Selwyn Jones, uncle of George Floyd, whose death in 2020 helped spark worldwide protests against police violence.
Saturday, Oct. 12
Community Shred Day. Homewood will host a paper shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon in the village hall parking lot, 2024 Chestnut Road.
Pumpkin Decorating. Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will host a pumpkin decorating activity from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Helen Wilson Meeting Room. Participants shoiuld bring a pumpkin. The library will provide craft supplies. Register here.
I’m Sorry for My Loss Book Signing. Journalists Rebecca Little and Colleen Long, who both grew up in H-F, will sign their book, “I’m Sorry for My Loss,” from 2 to 5 p.m. at Dunning’s Market, 1050 Sterling Ave. in Flossmoor. The book traces the history and issues around women’s reproductive life, including the ways the loss of a pregnancy are treated by society and felt by the pregnant person.
A Haunting in Homewood. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. in the Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway, formerly a funeral home, for showings of supernatural, interactive experience brought to you by Spotlight Performance Academy. Only 50 seats available for each show. “Themes of death and macabre may not be suitable for children.”
Homewood Farmers Market. Fresh produce, artisan foods, handcrafted personal care item vendors plus live music will all be available on Martin Square between Ridge Road and Chestnut Road from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Barb and Dan’s Road Ride. Weekly bike ride starts at 8 a.m. Saturday from GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. There are two groups. One is a no-one-gets-dropped group that follows a 20-mile route. Another group goes on a longer ride. Helmets required. Lights encouraged. Riders of all experience levels are welcome.
Off-Leash Bike Ride. A nine-mile ride every Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. at GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. The route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, past Rover’s Run and through Izaak Walton Preserve. No registration. Donuts upon return.
STEM Saturdays. The Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway, is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for science play.
Adult Outdoor Game Night. Join the fun at Irons Oaks Environment Learning Center from 7 to 9 p.m. “There will be outdoor games, raffles, delicious appetizers, refreshing beverages, and so much more.” Fee is $25. Buy tickets here.

Pink-a-Boo Walk of Hope. The annual Cancer Support Center benefit walk will start at 9 a.m. Click here to register.

Witches’ Night Out. Homewood Business Association will welcome witches and their friends to Martin Square from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, for some witches’ brew, shopping, photos and a best hat contest.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The Governors State University Center for Performing Arts will present “Sweeney Todd” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.
Walk Walton. Homewood Science Center’s annual fundraiser held in Izaak Walton Preserve will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.
Deadline for Haunted Homewood Halloween House Decorating Contest. Registration for the annual contest ends Oct. 20.
Centennial Celebration Trivia Night and Costume Contest. Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will host a trivia night and costume contest to celebration the village’s 100th anniversary. The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 25 in the library’s main level.
