The Homewood Fire Department will host its annual open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the station, 17950 Dixie Highway.

The event will mix fun activities with fire safety tips. Interactive exhibits will include information on:
- How to prevent a home fire.
- Ways to help you survive a fire.
- How a fire engine pumps water.
- Being prepared for a major emergency.
Children will be able to touch the fire trucks, engines and ambulances, honk the horns inside the apparatuses and pose for photos.
There will be a live fire demonstration on the importance of sprinkler systems.
UCAN’s Medical Evacuation helicopter is scheduled to land in the village hall parking lot sometime during the event.
