Rich Township Board of Trustees will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, March 18, in the  Leonard Robinson Administration Building, 22013 Governors Highway.

Flossmoor School District 161 Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, March 18, in Normandy Villa, 41 E. Elmwood Drive, Chicago Heights.

Flossmoor Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 18, in village hall, 2800 Flossmoor Road.

  • The board also will consider a resolution providing assurance that the village will commit to its matching obligation for a grant that is part of the funding for the Dartmouth Road pedestrian bridge replacement project.

Homewood-Flossmoor School District 233 Board of Education will meet at 6:15 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in the The Viking Room, South Building, 999 Kedzie Ave. The board is expected to enter into closed session during the first meeting.

    Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Board of Commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in the Goldberg Administration Center,  3301 Flossmoor Road.

    • Highlights: The board will discuss policy changes to Rover’s Run Dog Park, consider accepting a proposal to update Irwin Park playground and consider a bid for resurfacing Flossmoor Park Tennis Courts.

    Monday, March 18

    Prime Time with GiGi. A basic low-impact aerobics session from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at H-F Racquet & Fitness Club, 2920 W. 183rd St. in Homewood, designed to increase stamina and burn calories with toning and weight-training exercises to strengthen muscles and improve balance. Great for beginners or mature exercisers.

    Adolescent Activists. 
    The meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. in Homewood Public Library’s F.O.R.T. upstairs at 17917 Dixie Highway is for teens age 13 to 18 who want to discuss issues and events. This month’s topic is domestic violence. Snacks will be served.

    Zumba with Gigi. A mix of low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party at H-F Racquet & Fitness Club, 2920 W. 183rd St. in Homewood, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. 

    Wednesday, March 20

    Homewood Stories. Five storytellers will be performing at the Flossmoor Community House, 847 Hutchison Road. The event was moved from its usual Tuesday date because the location will be used as a polling place on March 19. Tellers will be Peter LeGrand, Tony Labriola, Joy Wright, Suzy Dritz and Karen O’Donnell. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 if purchased in advance at here.

    100 Acts of Kindness. As part of Flossmoor’s centennial celebration, the village is promoting a 100 Acts of Kindness Challenge. Residents are invited to spread the word to friends, family and neighbors and encourage them to join in. Share acts of kindness on social media using the hashtag #BeKindFlossmoor.

    Thursday, March 21

    Working in Water, an International View. At the Izaak Walton Preserve general meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the preserve, 1100 Ridge Road in Homewood, Dave Zaber will discuss his experiences in Angola, Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania as a consultant with The U.S. Agency for International Development’s Farmer to Farmer program. His work highlights global issues related to water use and conservation and the importance of global cooperation in solving environmental challenges.

    Friday, March 22

    Flashlight Egg Hunt. The H-F Park District will host an evening egg hunt in two sessions, 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 to 9:15 p.m. at Irons Oaks, 20000 Western Ave. Bring a flashlight and basket. A non-paying adult must accompany child. The hunts will start promptly at the registered start time. For kids aged 3 to 10. The fee is $12 for district residents, $15 for non-residents. Click here to register.

    Saturday, March 23

    Barb and Dan’s Road Ride. Weekly bike ride start at 8 a.m. from GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. There are two groups. One is a no-one-gets-dropped group that follows a 20-mile route. Another group is goes on a longer ride. Helmets required. Lights encouraged. Riders of all experience levels are welcome.

    Off-Leash Bike Ride. A nine-mile ride every Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. at GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. The route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, past Rover’s Run and through Izaak Walton Preserve. No registration. Donuts upon return.

    Lucky Egg Hunt. The H-F Park District will host its annual egg hunt for kids 10 and younger at 10 a.m. Apollo Park, Morgan Street & Bowling Green Road in Homewood. There will be a few lucky eggs which include an extra prize. The bunny will be available for photos after the hunt. For H-F residents only. 

    Terisa Griffin at Freedom Hall. The “Songbird of Soul” will be at Freedom Hall – Park Forest at 7:30 p.m. Purchase tickets here.

    Chicago Knockouts Roller Derby. Retro Rumblers will face the Comic Book Crushers at 8 p.m. in the Homewood Auditorium, 2010 Chestnut Road. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $15.

    Sunday, March 24

    IPO Presents: Never Play Music Right Next to the Zoo. A musicial story time by Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, from 2 to 3 p.m. for kids from age 0 to 12. Registration is preferred, but not required.
