Commander John Beele and Don Tollefsen of Homewood’s Wally Burns VFW Post 8077 presented a $300 check to support Homewood Police Chief Denise McGrath as she runs the Boston Marathon for a cause.

When McGrath runs the marathon on April 15, she will be raising money for Semper Fi & America’s Fund. The organization supports injured or ill service members, veterans and their families from all branches of the armed forces.

In a flier about the project, McGrath notes that she hopes to raise $385 per mile or $10,000 for the organization. Click here to make a donation.

Beele said the VFW post wanted to help out because “the Homewood Police and Fire Departments have always been big supporters of our post.”
