Homewood police respond to robbery report on Halsted St.

BMO Harris Bank in Homewood called police Monday morning to report the bank was being robbed, according to a press release from Homewood Police Department.

Police officers responded to the call and arrived at the bank, 17600 Halsted St., at about 10:45 a.m. Jan. 3.

Witnesses told police that a man demanded money from a bank teller. He then fled the bank and left the area in a purple vehicle, police said.

Homewood police: Car theft victim fired shots, charged as ‘habitual criminal’

The victim of a vehicle theft was himself taken into custody on Dec. 23 and charged by Homewood Police with firearms crimes for shooting after his car as it drove away.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28, Tyrone Hymon left his vehicle unoccupied and running in a parking lot at the 18200 block of Halsted Street in Homewood.

Sauk Village man charged with robbery, kidnapping

A Sauk Village man was arrested Dec. 1 and has been charged with kidnapping, unlawful restraint and armed robbery after an Oct. 14 incident in Homewood, according to Homewood police.

Blaze Pierce, 29, of the 2500 block of 221st Street, allegedly was involved in a verbal argument with the victim. Police said Pierce threatened the victim with a handgun and took two cell phones worth $1,359.

Teen injured in shooting Monday night

A 13-year-old was injured by gunfire late Monday in the 18800 block of Castle Road in Homewood, according to police.

The teen was in a vehicle when the shots were fired and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Police said a tan SUV was observed in the area. 

Two cars involved in shooting incident Sunday near Hazel Crest

Occupants of two moving vehicles exchanged gunfire on Sunday evening near Homewood's border with Hazel Crest.

According to a Homewood Police press release, around 9:30 p.m. on March 8, officers responded to the 2100 block of 175th Street after receiving a report of shots being fired.

Witnesses said a dark-colored vehicle and a light-colored vehicle were both traveling east on 175th Street, when near Butternut Road, the occupants began shooting at each other.
