Flossmoor names new coordinator for village events
Nicole Brookens has been named program and events coordinator for the village of Flossmoor. Brookens, a longtime Homewood resident, succeeds Laura Brennan Levy, who stepped down from the post last month. Brennan Levy was the first person to hold the position.
Cancer Support Center adds kids fun run to Walk of Hope
Volunteers for the Cancer Support Center will be walking through Homewood for the organization’s annual Walk of Hope on Sunday, Oct. 6. H-F park board approves new equipment for club
The Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet & Fitness Center will be getting five pieces of new equipment. At its board meeting Tuesday, Sept. 17, the board agreed to replace two of its oldest elliptical machines and an old recumbent exerciser.
Juvenile suffers stab wound Monday in Homewood
A juvenile was transported to an area hospital Monday afternoon after suffering a stab wound during a fight in the 18500 block of Poplar Avenue in Homewood, according to police.
Children’s musical presented by H-F Theater students Sept. 26, 27 and 28
“The Last Stop on Market Street,” a children’s musical, will be performed at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 26 and 27, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Mall Auditorium of Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
AP honors given to 150 from H-F High
AP Scholar Awards have been presented to 150 current and graduated Homewood-Flossmoor High School students in recognition of their exceptional achievements on Advanced Placement exams. The honors are for work during the 2018-19 academic year.
Homewood FD competes in video contest
The Homewood Fire Department has entered its “Night Sounds” video in a contest that could win the department up to $25,000. Voting through the online competition, sponsored by UL Fire Safety Research Institute, ends at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15. The prize money will be designated for public education efforts.
