Strong storm to bring a year’s worth of weather tonight, Saturday

A storm expected to hit the area tonight and Saturday will have a little bit of everything, according to forecasters: rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, wind and possibly thunderstorms. It could be precipitation from four seasons packed into one storm. [Update 1:09 p.m.: Flossmoor issues storm advisory.]

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
