Shout out to our colleagues
Some Homewood residents have been noticing that Thornton Township governance has had some rocky moments since longtime Supervisor Frank Zuccarelli died suddenly in January. Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard has had a contentious relationship with her board, and she was appointed to replace Zuccarelli as township supervisor.

While Dolton is not part of our coverage area, much of Homewood (north of 183rd Street and east of Western Avenue) is in Thornton Township, so it’s business is our business. The Chronicle has not covered townships, though, mainly because Homewood and Flossmoor are in four and we don’t have enough reporters to get to all the meetings.

Fortunately, Melanie Jongsma and Josh Bootsma of the Lansing Journal and the Southtown’s columnist, Ted Slowik, do cover Thornton Township and the village of Dolton. They are helping us keep informed about the business and controversies that affect our community.
