Homewood firefighters responded to a residential fire in the 1700 block of 187th Street in Homewood early Sunday. Fire officials said the family was home at the time but was able to evacuate without injury.

Homewood girl collects 300 pairs of pajamas for Lurie patients
Ten-year-old Dannen Rose helped collect more than 300 pairs of pajamas to donate to patients at Lurie Children’s Hospital. The Homewood girl got help from her mom, Danielle Bowens, as well as some neighbors who rallied around to help the cause.
