Flossmoor Community Church will hold its second annual festival Saturday, Aug. 31, to benefit the Flossmoor Community House. The festivities will run from 5 to 10 p.m. at 847 Hutchison Road in Flossmoor.

Proposed Mexican restaurant asks Homewood trustees for parking variance
A new restaurant offering Mexican cuisine could open at 17536 Dixie Highway, but the project will require a parking variance before it can open. At their Tuesday meeting, Homewood trustees will consider the variance request from Laura Carbajal de Garcia, owner of Don Goyo Fine Mexican Cuisine.
Homewood library staff contract approved after nearly three years
After nearly three years, employees at the Homewood Public Library are now working under a contract. The library’s board voted unanimously to ratify the agreement at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

H-F band has three leaders for 2019-20 season
Two drum majors and a field commander are sharing leadership for the 200-member Homewood-Flossmoor High School band this year. Seniors Alex Contreras of Chicago Heights and Jazz Jabulani of Glenwood are drum majors and junior Kirkland Benson is a field commander.

District 233 prepares $56.3 million budget for H-F High
