Flossmoor board approves street resurfacing program
The Flossmoor Village Board has approved a contract for the Fiscal Year 2020 Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) street resurfacing program. Public Works Director John Brunke said the 2020 program includes resurfacing a total of 1.55 miles of street, spot curb repairs, sidewalk replacement and ADA improvements.
Hutchinson sponsors bill giving tax break to nonprofits
The Illinois legislature took a step to remove nonprofits from a tax hike put in place under President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The new tax charges nonprofits that provide transportation and parking benefits to their employees, but the state voted to decouple from the tax increase.

GSU to host Chicago Southland International Film Festival
Governors State University will host the Chicago Southland International Film Festival Sept. 6, 7 and 8 on its campus in University Park. The festival includes a juried Short Film Competition, a Feature Film Showcase and a director-led question and answer session.
