Homewood Mayor Richard Hofeld is asking residents to join in an email and letter-writing campaign to convince Panera Bread to keep two locations in town. Panera is soon to open a store at 175th and Halsted Streets, and has announced it will close the Cherry Creek store.

The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab expects to open a new location in Homewood later this year. Construction has already begun at 19260 S. Halsted Street. AbilityLab provides physical rehab for adults and children with complex conditions resulting in loss of function.
Homewood approves funding for emergency stormwater improvements
The Homewood village board approved emergency funding for improvements to failures in stormwater infrastructure improvements at its Feb. 12 meeting. Workers recently found two critical failures in the stormwater system, which public works officials said in village documents could result in “severe flooding” if not repaired.
