New police, fire, public works vehicles for Homewood

The police, fire and public works departments will be getting new trucks in Homewood after the board approved leases at its July 23 meeting. Public works will replace its engineering division’s 2008 Ford Explorer and street division’s 2006 plow truck, also through a separate purchasing cooperative.   

Homewood approves 3-cents per gallon gas tax

A 3-cents per gallon tax on gasoline from Homewood pumps was approved by the village board at its July 9 meeting. The state’s motor fuel tax also increased by 19 cents per gallon July 1. It’s the first increase since 1990.   

Liquor license for H-F Racquet and Fitness Club approved

A liquor license was approved for the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club by the Homewood village board Tuesday, June 25. Vice District Brewing closing Homewood taproom

A craft brewery that needed multiple timeline extensions and received $100,000 in incentives from Homewood is closing its taproom at 18027 Dixie Highway. In a Facebook post dated June 24, Vice District said it was shifting focus toward distribution.

Homewood explores TIF incentive for Bogart’s site redevelopment

Officials hope a new TIF district will incentivize redevelopment of the former Bogart’s restaurant at 18225 Dixie Highway in Homewood. Kane, McKenna and Associates, a financial services firm, began helping the village work toward establishing a new TIF district along Dixie Highway and Miller Court in August of 2018.
