Donna Miller issues statement on killing of Minnesota man

Donna Miller, a Democratic candidate for Illinois’ 2nd District congressional seat, issued a statement Saturday, Jan. 24, about the alleged killing of a Minnesota man by federal agents that morning.

Miller currently represents Homewood on the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

Miller’s statement follows:

“U.S. Border Patrol agents killed another American in Minneapolis. Again, it was caught on cellphone video by witnesses who saw the man being beaten by six masked agents and then shot multiple times.

“Like the killing of Renee Good, who ICE agents said was trying to run over an officer with her car, our government officials are blaming the victims for their own deaths.

“How many people are we going to allow to be murdered on our American streets by masked agents before we say enough is enough? This cannot continue. We cannot become desensitized to people being killed, beaten, pulled out of their homes, detained and disappeared.

“What has happened to the Republican Party? What we’re seeing in Minneapolis isn’t making our streets safer. If anything, ICE and border patrol agents are deliberately trying to terrorize Minnesotans and Americans at-large through fear, intimidation and thuggish behavior.

“Is this what we want our country to be known for? Renee Good’s last words were, “That’s fine dude, I’m not mad at you.” The last words of Jonathan Ross, the agent who killed her were, “F*cking bitch.” Now, you tell me who we should fear.”
