Homewood police and a South Suburban Emergency Response Team unit discovered a deceased person in a home in the 17600 block of Dixie Highway on Monday evening, June 8, while serving a search warrant.
HPD officers and members of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force obtained the warrant as part of a homicide investigation, according to Homewood police.
Bianca C. Davis, 51, was found dead Saturday, June 6, in a home on 175th Street as the result of a gunshot wound. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office determined her death was a homicide.
Police and SSERT officers executed the search warrant at 6:10 p.m. Officers made multiple announcements over a loudspeaker ordering anyone in the residence to step out with their hands up. Those announcements went unanswered, and officers entered the house.
Upon searching the house, officers located a deceased person in a bedroom with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
The Illinois State Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner were contacted to assist in the investigation. The identity of the deceased individual is being withheld pending notification to the family.
