Homewood police posted on June 16 more details about an alleged murder/suicide that occurred June 6 and June 8. Officials said the investigation has been closed.
Police responded to a home on 175th Street on the afternoon of June 6 and discovered the body of Bianca C. Davis. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined she died from a gunshot wound and labeled her death a homicide.
On June 8, police with support from the South Suburban Emergency Response Team attempted to execute a search warrant at a home in the 17600 block of Dixie Highway, where they found the body of Carlos Jones, who died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Medical Examiner’s office ruled his death was by suicide.
Police said the investigation revealed that on the morning of June 6 Jones arrived at Davis’s residence in his vehicle. A little more than 10 minutes later, he left her residence.
No one else came to the residence until her family came to check on her that afternoon. It was at that time when the family discovered Davis deceased.
The investigation led detectives to view Jones as a suspect, according to police. Jones and Davis had a previous dating relationship that ended a few months prior.
Due to Jones’s death, the investigation has been closed, police said. No additional information is available at this time.
