Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Board of Commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the Goldberg Administration Center, 3301 Flossmoor Road. The agenda is available here.

National Night Out and Touch a Truck in Flossmoor. The village’s police, fire and public works departments will host the annual community gathering to give residents and public safety staff a chance to interact in a fun, informal setting. Flossmoor will host its event from 5 to 8 p.m. in the village hall parking lot, 2800 Flossmoor Road, and adjacent Infant Jesus of Prague School parking lot.

National Night Out in Homewood. Homewood will host the annual festival providing the community an opportunity to socialize with police officers and other public safety personnel from 5 to 8 p.m. in Irwin Park, 1800 block of Ridge Road. Special guests this year will be the Jesse White Tumblers.

Comics and Cookies. Comic readers can discuss what they’ve been reading lately from 6 to 6:45 p.m. in the Rauch Reading Room at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway. The library will provide the treats, you provide the chat. Register here.

Park District Fall Programs. Registration opens today for Homewood-Flossmoor Park District fall programs. Offerings include a range of activities, from dance to kayaking plus introductory youth sports classes. Register online at hfparks.com. For more information, call 708-957-0300.
