With just one week remaining before the March 17 Gubernatorial Primary Election, Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon is urging residents who plan to vote by mail to return their ballots as soon as possible.
Due to recent changes by the U.S. Postal Service that may delay delivery times, the clerk’s office recommends that voters mail their ballots right away or take advantage of one of the 55 secure ballot drop boxes available at Early Voting locations across suburban Cook County.
The closest drop boxes to Homewood and Flossmoor are at Prairie State College, 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights, and Markham Courthouse, 16501 S. Kedzie Ave., Markham.
As the final week of Early Voting gets underway, Clerk Gordon is encouraging voters to make a plan now to cast their ballot.
“Whether you are voting by mail or planning to vote early, now is the time to get in the game,” Gordon said. “Your voice matters, and your vote helps determine the future of Cook County and Illinois.”
Voters who choose to vote by mail are encouraged to return their ballots using one of the following options:
- Deposit their ballot in a secure drop box at any of the 55 Early Voting locations in suburban Cook County. Locations can be found at www.cookcountyclerk.com/EVlocations.
- Bring their ballot directly to a post office and request a postmark to help ensure timely delivery.
Early Voting locations are open to all suburban Cook County voters, regardless of where they live. Voters may cast their ballot at whichever site is most convenient — whether near home, work, or along their daily commute.
To make the voting process even more convenient, the Clerk’s Office encourages residents to use the Voter Information Tool at www.cookcountyclerk.com/VoterInfo where voters can:
- Find nearby Early Voting locations.
- Track the status of their mail ballot.
- View their personalized sample ballot.
