Homewood-Flossmoor High School will have counselors available when school opens Monday to help students deal with the sudden and tragic death of student Tom Mya Lyons who died after a car accident early Sunday morning.
It is believed the accident occurred after students left the H-F prom at the Field Museum in Chicago. No other details are available.
The student was a member of the senior class at H-F.
In an H-F statement to parents, Superintendent Scott Wakeley and Principal Clinton Alexander said: “The Crisis Team will be available to help students and staff deal with this sad loss. Support will be available in each of Tom Mya’s classes on Monday and Tuesday. There also will be designated spaces in North and South Buildings for crisis team members to meet with students. It’s important for us all to look out for one another during a time of loss. Talking with a trusted adult can help you process your emotions – a parent, family member, school counselor or social worker
