Most important issues: School boards, in collaboration with superintendents, must address numerous critical issues. Currently, two of the most pressing challenges are closing the achievement gap and adapting to a rapidly advancing technological revolution. Ensuring all students are well-prepared for success in high school requires addressing disparities among diverse student populations through evidence-based curriculum and instructional practices.

In addition, leveraging technology effectively is crucial. This entails developing innovative strategies that meet the unique needs of our students while preparing them for the demands of the future. Supporting teachers and administrators with the necessary resources and professional development will be vital to achieving these goals.

Our ultimate priority is to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in college or the workforce and to lead transformative change. This foundation for success begins here, in SD 161.

Top goals:

1. Advocate for and support initiatives that address the academic, emotional, and social needs of all SD161 students.

2. Strengthen communication between all stakeholders, including community members, parents, teachers, administration, and the school board.

Ultimately, I want to ensure that SD 161 becomes a top-destination school district, drawing families from across Illinois and neighboring states to become a part of a top-performing district.
