Joni Bradley-Scott got involved in village government in 2017, when she was elected village clerk. In 2019 she was appointed to a trustee position and kept the seat in the 2021 election.

She said she values Flossmoor’s family-friendly atmosphere and events and would like to see the village build on that foundation, attracting more area families to connect in Flossmoor.

If she is elected mayor, she would like to see more transparency and inclusion in village government. For example, she supports the village’s recent focus on economic development, but she would like to see more public involvement.

“I think one of the important factors about economic development is taking the pulse of the community to get more engagement of the businesses that the community would like to be here and they would be willing to support,” she said. “I also think that it is important for the businesses that have raised their hand and have selected to be here, that we provide them with resources of sustainability.”

Bradley-Scott has been a critic of the current administration’s processes and communication practices, especially regarding the firing of former Police Chief Jerel Jones and the construction of the Heather Hill detention basin.
