Highlights: The board will consider adopting a new standards-based grading system and a collective bargaining agreement with the Flossmoor Education Association.

District 233 Superintendent Search meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, 999 Kedzie Ave. in Flossmoor.

Highlight: The community is invited to be part of the process to select the next superintendent who will fill the position of retiring Superintendent Scott Wakeley.

Highlights: The board will discuss a liquor license request from William Hightower who currently operates a wine consulting service in the village and would like to establish a wine tasting business downtown. The board also will consider an employee health insurance package.

Flossmoor Green Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in village hall, 2800 Flossmoor Road. Find the agenda here.

Highlights: The commission will discuss the village’s new festival, Oaktoberfest, and ideas for issues the commission could champion.

Homewood-Flossmoor School District 233 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, 999 Kedzie Ave., in the Viking Room. Find the agenda here.

Highlights: The board will approve contracts for bus service, athletic training, a new website design; accept the Technology Department’s needs for next school year; approve contracts with Department Leads (replacing Department Chair positions), and with Michelle Meadows, new director of Career Pathways & Workforce Development; and accept the recommendations from the Strategic Planning Committee.

Homewood-Flossmoor Park District will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at the park district offices at Goldberg Park, 3301 Flossmoor Road. Find the agenda here.

Highlights: The commissioners will elect new officers; approve the 2024-25 budget; purchase new equipment for the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club, and new outside doors for the H-F Ice Arena.

Bremen Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at 15350 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Forest. No agenda posted on the township website.

Highlights: The commission will continue discussion of a special use permit and parking variance request from Elsayed Elbanna who wishes to open a salon/spa at 2207 183rd St., formerly the South Suburban Humane Society Adoption Center. The commission also will consider a request from Ben Beitel of Washington Park Plaza LLC to subdivide the shopping center property to enable the development of a quick service restaurant near the intersection of Halsted Street and Maple Road.

Local Author Talk. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a talk from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. by Kris Condon, who will discuss her new book, “Fragments of Flossmoor.”

Tuesday, May 21

Zumba with GiGi. The session with a mix of low-intensity and high-intensity moves goes from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at H-F Racquet & Fitness Center, 2920 183rd St.

Evening Book Discussion. Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will host a discussion from 7 to 8 p.m. of “Coleman Hill” by Kim Coleman Foote. Copies will be available at the front desk of the library.

Homewood StoriesStorytellers Nick Narcisi, John Hahm, Mike Speller, Maureen Mader and show curator Karen O’Donnell perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at FCC Community House, 847 Hutchison Road. Buy tickets here.

Kundalini Sound Healing. The yoga session from 7 to 8:45 p.m. at Serendipity Yoga and Wellness Studio, 18300 Dixie Highway, will feature a special vibrational healing experience designed to balance and harness the energy of the full moon. Buy tickets here.

Saturday, May 25

Homewood Farmers Market. The first outdoor market of the summer season will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Martin Square between Ridge and Chestnut Roads.
