Community invited to offer input on H-F superintendent search

The Alma Advisory Group invites residents to attend a meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 20, to offer comments as the District 233 board begins the search for its next superintendent.

Superintendent Scott Wakeley plans to retire from his position in June 2025. This session will be the first time the community can come together to discuss what its hopes are for Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The meeting will be in the H-F Performing Arts Center. Participants can park in the north lot and enter through Door 9.

The school board said it selected the Alma Advisory Group “for many reasons including its clear focus on equity and diversity in hiring through a competency-based approach at all phases of the process.”

The search process also includes inclusive and authentic community engagement to assure the candidates meet the community’s vision for H-F. Focus groups with residents, teachers, students and administrators will offer additional input.

To engage as many people as possible, the school board is also launching a community survey that will be available May 14 through May 28 on the H-F website.

A superintendent search website at www.hfhighschool.org/superintendent_search will provide regular updates throughout the search process.

The board hopes to select a new superintendent by December.
