Three people were taken to a local hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries, and a fire hydrant was damaged in a two-vehicle crash Monday, July 17, at Flossmoor Road and Springfield Avenue.
Flossmoor officials said one of the vehicles struck the hydrant, and water flowed into nearby ditches, sidewalks and streets. Flossmoor Road was temporarily blocked.
In addition to police and fire units, Flossmoor Public Works staff responded to the scene to shut off water to the hydrant, preventing additional flooding.
“Water to some residences may be temporarily shut off until cleanup is completed,” officials said. “Flossmoor Road and the nearby streets in the Flossmoor Hills neighborhood remain open, as there is no flooding or damage to roads.”
The Hazel Crest Fire Department provided assistance.
