Victim shot in Flossmoor carjacking on Sunday (free)

A man was shot in the arm Sunday evening, July 2, and his car was stolen from the parking lot of the Meijer store in Flossmoor, according to police.

Flossmoor officers responded to the store about 8:15 p.m. Witnesses reported that a male victim made contact with a roving security officer in the lot. The victim said he had been shot in the arm when someone tried to take his vehicle at gunpoint.

Flossmoor police were notified and arrived moments later. The victim was bleeding from his arm and told officers the person who shot him was still in a vehicle in the parking lot.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle driven by the suspect but discontinued the pursuit due to the fleeing suspect’s erratic and dangerous driving, police said. Officers later learned the shooting suspect had stolen the vehicle in which he fled from the Meijer parking lot after the altercation.
