The Weeks | March 12: NAACP holds forum on Calumet Country Club, Jim Wright dies, election news coming

THE WEEK >

NOTE: The location of the NAACP meeting on Calumet Country Club redevelopment has been moved to the American Legion Hall, 17034 Page Ave.

Homewood train station east access closed. Access to Amtrak and Metra boarding platforms will be closed for renovation from Harwood Avenue on the east side of the train station starting Monday, March 13. Passengers will need to reach boarding platforms from the Park Avenue entrance on the west side of the station. The renovation project is expected to take about 14 months. Village officials are working on measures to help commuters navigate the construction disruptions.

On Friday, the village posted a notice on Facebook alerting drivers will only be permitted to turn right when northbound on Park Avenue onto Dixie Highway. Northbound traffic on the west side of the station will need to go south on Park Avenue to 183rd Street, then west to Governors Highway in order to travel north.

The village is in the process of developing a pedestrian walkway for those on the east side of the station who need to get to the west entrance. The walkway will follow Harwood Avenue north to Dixie Highway, then south on Park Avenue.
