Flossmoor Road home heavily damaged by fire Sunday

No one was injured, but fire seriously damaged a home in the 2900 block of Flossmoor Road late Sunday morning.

Flossmoor Fire Capt. Matt Berk said the call came in about 11 a.m. and the first unit on the scene found fire showing in the rear of the home.

One occupant escaped unharmed, he said.

The home was heavily damaged and currently is uninhabitable.

“There is significant smoke and heat damage,” Berk said. “The majority of the fire was contained in the area of origin.”

He said the cause of the blaze is under investigation but preliminary assessment suggests it was accidental.

Fire departments from Homewood, Hazel Crest, Country Club Hills, Glenwood, Markham and Tinley Park responded to the scene.
