Homewood police investigate shooting death early Sunday (free, updated 8:45 p.m. Sunday)

Homewood police responding to a report of shots fired just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, found a 25-year-old man dead in a vehicle in the 17500 block of Dixmoor Drive on the village’s northwest side.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim was Darion E. Duncan of Homewood. He was pronounced dead at 1:47 a.m.

He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, police said. 

The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating the shooting with the assistance of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. 

At this time, the investigation indicates that this was a targeted attack and there is not an on-going threat to the community.
