Shots fired during attempted vehicle theft Tuesday afternoon (free)

Homewood police responded about 2:35 p.m. to the 17600 block of Halsted Street to a report of shots fired.

The victim told officers that someone was attempting to steal his vehicle. 

“The victim and offender exchanged gunfire,” police said in a statement. “The victim was not injured during the incident.”

The apparent offenders left the area heading northbound on Halsted Street in a silver sedan.

Officers recovered shell casings from the scene.

Police urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit at 708-206-3420.
