Local businesses collect food donations to help Open Access provide Thanksgiving dinner to those in need (free)

A number of local businesses are serving as collection points for donated nonperishable foods that will help Open Access provide complete Thanksgiving meals to area families in need.

Collections will be accepted through Tuesday, Nov. 15.

The organization’s goal is to provide 1,000 families with a meal that includes a turkey with a variety of traditional side dishes.

Homewood collection locations include:

  • The village of Homewood, canned cranberries. Donations can be taken to the second floor of village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road. 
  • Loulou Belle, 2049 Ridge Road, and Redbird Cafe, 2057 Ridge Road, corn bread mix.
  • Serendipity Yoga and Wellness Studio, 18300 Dixie Highway, boxed stuffing and boxed mashed potatoes.
  • UpsaDaisy Boutique, 18101 Martin Ave., boxed mashed potatoes.
  • The Villager Gift Shop, 2007 Ridge Road, canned cranberries. 
  • Art Corner Frames, 18703 Dixie Highway, boxed mashed potatoes.
  • Vickie’s Fashion Jewelry, 2025 Ridge Road, corn bread mix.

The Homewood Science Center held collections on Nov. 5 and Nov. 12.
