Homewood police investigate shots fired during attempted vehicle theft (free content)

A homeowner scared off two people he believed were trying to steal his vehicle. One of the offenders then fired several shots at him.

Homewood police said the incident happened around 5:35 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, on the 18500 block of Perth Avenue.

The victim saw an unknown offender in his vehicle that was parked in his driveway. Police reported when the victim yelled to the unknown offender, a second unknown offender waiting by a vehicle on the street fired three shots towards the victim.

According to police, both offenders then entered into a vehicle on the street and fled northbound.

The victim was not injured during the incident. Shell casings were recovered from the scene by police.
