Woman killed in Flossmoor Sunday in officer-involved shooting (updated)

A woman was killed in an officer-involved shooting on Sunday after police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance shortly after noon in the 1400 block of Joyce Drive in Flossmoor.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office reported Monday morning that the victim was Madeline Miller, 64, of Flossmoor. An autopsy was performed Monday, and the ME’s office determined the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. 

Flossmoor police said Miller was taken to Advocate South Suburban Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:09 p.m.

The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force is investigating the incident.

According to the ISP Public Information Office, Flossmoor police responded to the residence at about 12:14 p.m. and were met at the door by a woman wielding a knife.

No one else was injured in the incident.
