Sunday celebration to mark 125 years of Homewood’s historic house

The Dorband-Howe House on 183rd Street has been home to the Homewood Historical Society for almost 30 years. The society will soon celebrate the home's 125th anniversary.(Chronicle file photo)

There’s a special celebration happening on Sunday, Aug. 21, as the Homewood Historical Society marks the 125th anniversary of the Dorband-Howe House.

Between 2 and 4 p.m. guests will be given free tours and enjoy an ice cream social at the house, 2035 W. 183rd St.

Fall events

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
