The Homewood Fire Department has three new captains in its ranks. Chief Bob Grabowski promoted a trio of lieutenants to the captain. Chris Kieta and Bill Wright were sworn in at the July 11 village board meeting. Tim Cameron was sworn in later that week.

Downtown Homewood redevelopment deal stalls
Progress has come to a halt in a redevelopment project on Ridge Road in downtown Homewood, but village officials and the developer said it is still possible the project might be saved. Third Coast Development of Grand Rapids, Mich., recently withdrew its offer to purchase the property at 2033 Ridge Road.

Longtime Homewood businessman and village trustee Bob Wilson dies at 75
Bob Wilson, a former Homewood businessman and village trustee, is being remembered for his many years of service in the South Suburbs. Mr. Wilson, who moved to Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood 10 years ago, died June 8 from pancreatic cancer. He was 75.

Board approves lease for sewer cleaner, truck in Homewood
The Homewood village board approved a lease for a new storm sewer cleaner at its June 13 meeting. The village also approved funding to replace a portion of fencing along 183rd Street just west of the viaduct that was damaged in a traffic accident.
