Homewood officials announced this week that several popular services for residents are scheduled for coming weeks, including paper shredding, electronics recycling, prescription drug disposal and branch chipping. Chickens will not be crossing the road into Flossmoor anytime soon. In a unanimous vote, village board members Monday turned down a request to allow backyard chickens in Flossmoor. Officially, the board reaffirmed a ban on barnyard animals by voting to not change the village’s municipal code.

Village board members gave the go-ahead Monday to “Welcoming. Beautiful. Connected.” as the community’s motto and also picked a new logo, a tree drawn with a continuous line that begins and ends in the same place ― Flossmoor.
