Commuters stuck downtown when power surge knocks out Metra Electric line
Just as the evening rush hour was set to get rolling Tuesday, a major portion of the Metra Electric train line into the South Suburbs was shut down due to a power surge.
Power out in Halsted area Wednesday
Power was lost to about 660 customers in the Halsted Street area Wednesday afternoon, according John Schoen, a spokesman for ComEd. The outage was caused by a broken utility pole, Schoen said, but he was unsure what caused the damage to the pole.
Nicor Gas updating meters for automatic readouts
