Sister Mary Jo Sobieck of Marian Catholic High School is a star on the internet. Now she has a chance to win a 2019 ESPY Award.
The Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) is an honor presented by ABC-TV, and previously by ESPN Sports. Sister Mary Jo is nominated in the “Best Viral Sports Moment.” Voting continues until 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at http://bit.ly/ESPYsrmojo.

Marian Catholic’s award-winning band took the field that day to mark the school’s 60th anniversary year. Sister Mary Jo was designated as the representative who would throw out the first pitch.
Few knew of her sports skills and were surprised when she threw the ball right over the plate.
Just like that, Sister Mary Jo became an overnight internet sensation. Millions have seen her action on the mound and she’s received numerous accolades, including her own bobble-head doll.
