Homewood-Flossmoor High School senior Quinton Stringfellow set a new school record and holds a national wind-legal outdoor record in the long jump competition at the ASICS Mount Carmel Invitational in San Diego March 23.
H-F board moves associate principal to business manager’s job
Lawrence Cook will be the new business manager for District 233 starting July 1. The school board approved his three-year appointment Tuesday, April 2, on a 5-2 vote. Beth Larocca and Annette Bannon voted against the appointment. Cook’s starting salary will be $129,202.
Friday deadline to apply for Homewood library director position
Candidates have until Friday, April 5, to apply for the job as director of Homewood Public Library. A new executive director is expected to be named May 9.

Helping hands make special gifts for hospice patients
A gift of caring goes a long way for someone with a serious illness, said Homewood’s Christine Rechsteiner, volunteer coordinators with Journey Care. She has been coordinating volunteer efforts that have brought joy to hundreds of patients.
Marty Will named NWHL Coach of the Year
Marty Will of Homewood was named Coach of the Year by the Northwest Hockey League in February. Will coaches the Squirts team within the seven-team HF Vikings hockey club.
H-F Unified Basketball winners of state championship for third time
For the third year in a row, the boys Unified Basketball team has brought the state championship trophy to Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The team defeated Andrew High School 60-57 in a game Saturday, March 16, in Peoria.
