District 153 will vote June 8 on e-learning plan

For weather and school emergencies in the 2026-27 school year, administrators in District 153 will declare e-learning days. Parents and guardians can review the proposed e-learning plan that the school board will vote on at its June 8 meeting at 7 p.m. at James Hart School.

The plan calls for administrators to notify parents of an e-learning day by 8 p.m. the day before, but no later than 5:30 a.m. the day of. Individual building schedules will be shared with parents by building principals before the end of the first trimester. 

Teachers will host Microsoft Teams virtual meetings to take class attendance, check in with students and answer questions. Teachers will conduct synchronous learning and assign independent learning activities.

The proposed plan also spells out student expectations, internet accessibility issues, as well as meeting the needs of students with special needs and English Language Learners.
