The Flossmoor Public Art Commission has announced that its Garden Art & More Online Auction is now open through Friday, July 10.
The fundraiser features items made by well-known artists and local hobbyists. The works are intended to liven up local gardens, yards or homes. In addition to yard art, other up-for-bid items include:
- “Lake Street Impression,” a mounted, giclee print showing a beautiful view of Chicago by award-winning artist Michael Cheney.
- A blue, heart-shaped ceramic, made by international artist Hilde DeBruyne.
- A hand-made, hand-painted Adirondack chair, made by Flossmoor Mayor Michelle Nelson.
- A custom portrait of the bidder’s child or pet, made by artist Morgan McCarthy.
- A golf cart tour of the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park for up to eight people, guided by Jeff Stevenson, park director and curator.

Money raised from the auction will support Flossmoor’s public sculpture collection by funding the rotational program, the acquisition of permanent pieces, and the maintenance and repair of sculptures, as needed.
“Brighten your home and garden or buy a fun event to share with friends, while you support art at the same time,” Flossmoor Public Art Commission Co-Chair Nancy Burrows said. “I hope you will become obsessed, as I have, with visiting the auction site.”

Flossmoor’s public art collection includes 16 permanent sculptures, plus a variety of short-term sculptures that are displayed on a rotational basis.
To help showcase the collection, the Flossmoor Public Art Commission invites the community to its Summer Sculpture Tour, starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, beginning in Flossmoor’s South Commuter Lot just south of Flossmoor Road at Sterling Avenue.
The walking tour will include guided stops at six sculptures. For more information, visit ArtFlossmoor.com.
