A driver was injured in a crash after apparently suffering a medical emergency while driving southbound on Kedzie Avenue on Saturday, March 14, according to Homewood police.

The Mazda MPV he was driving drove into oncoming traffic and struck a light pole at the northeast corner of the Kedzie intersection with 183rd Street at 1:18 p.m., police said.

The vehicle then jumped the curb on the southeast corner of the intersection, rolled over several times and struck three unoccupied vehicles in the Jewel grocery store parking lot. 

The driver, 80, was treated by Homewood Fire Department Paramedics and transported to an area hospital.
