Homewood police arrested three area men Wednesday, Dec. 10, on a variety of charges after finding loaded firearms and suspected illegal drugs in the vehicle they were in.
The vehicle was stopped about 4 p.m. in the 18600 block of Halsted Street.
One unusual aspect of the incident, police said, was the storage method for some of the drugs: baby bottles.
“While officers encounter many unusual hiding places during investigations, this marks the first recorded instance in recent memory where baby bottles were repurposed for something other than feeding infants,” police said in a statement posted on Facebook. “Officials would like to remind the public that while baby bottles are great for milk and formula, they are not recommended for storing narcotics — no matter how airtight the seal.”

In addition to nine baby bottles filled with suspected narcotics, officers found 188 pills suspected to be Alprazolam, a prescription medication used to treat anxiety, and two loaded handguns.
Cortney Davis, 19, of the 14500 block of Kentucky Avenue in Harvey, was charged with class X felony armed violence and class A misdemeanor possession of a firearm with no serial number.
Kameron Williams, 21, of the 15200 block of Dorchester Avenue in Dolton, was charged with class X felony armed violence.
Grant Crosby, 20, of the 18800 block of May Street in Homewood, was charged with speeding and class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance.
