A Homewood police officer and the driver of another vehicle were injured Saturday in a collision at the intersection of 183rd Street and Dixie Highway.

Both were transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries and later were released, according to Homewood police.

The crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. as the officer was responding to another traffic crash traveling eastbound on 183rd Street. A Cadillac traveling northbound on Dixie Highway struct the police vehicle while turning west on 183rd Street, police said.

The driver of the Cadillac was cited for failing to yield to an authorized emergency vehicle.
