Highlights:

  •  Consider an intergovernmental agreement creating the Southland Public Safety Communications Dispatch System, a new entity needed to own the consolidated E-Com/Southcom dispatch facility in Hazel Crest.  
  • Consider a contract with Burns & McDonnell to provide construction management services for the 2026 lead service line replacement project. 
  • Consider a measure to use Homewood’s share of the regional gaming tax from Wind Creek Southland Chicago casino to help fill a gap in police and fire pension funding.
  • Consider an ordinance authorizing the village to enter into a sales agreement with Munir Bawadi for 18155 Dixie Highway, formerly Delanoe’s Pizza. 
  • Consider a budget amendment to provide non-TIF incentive funds to Larry Kane of Jonathan Kane Salon and Spa for building improvements at 18065 Harwood Ave.
  • Consider a budget amendment to conduct emergency repairs to Sanitary Lift Station No. 9. 

Haunted Ho-Flo Ride. Go on a tour of home and yard decorations in the community by bike. The ride will go from 6:30 to about 8 p.m. for 6 to 7 miles. Meet at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St. A $5 per person donation will go to Homewood’s Cancer Support Center (bring cash or donate on-line).  There will be costume awards in adult and kid categories. Helmets required.

Family Pumpkin Carving & Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee. Carve pumpkins from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Irwin Community Center band shell, 18120 Highland Ave. in Homewood. Each registered participant gets one pumpkin, all carving and decorating materials, and a photo-op with the collective pumpkins. Take your pumpkin home after the event. Fee is $10 for H-F Park District residents, $15 for non-residents. Click here to register.

Learn to Ice Skate. Introductory lessons for kids age 2 and up will continue on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays until Dec. 20. Sessions will be held at the H-F Ice Arena, 777 Kedzie Ave. The primary focus will be to familiarize them with the ice, the rink, skates and developing fundamental skating skills. The fee for kids age 2 and 3 is $70 for H-F Park District residents, $80 for non-residents. The fee for kids age 4 and up is $74 for district residents, $84 for non-residents. Click here to register.

Myths and Magic Book Club. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. of “Servants of Earth” by Sarah Hawley. Books will be available for checkout at circulation services.
