Hidden Gem Half Marathon. The sixth annual race through Flossmoor’s neighborhoods starts at 7:30 a.m. in front of Infant Jesus of Prague School and is expected to end around 11:30 a.m. with the finish line on Sterling Avenue.
Kegs & Eggs. The Village of Flossmoor will host a post-Hidden Gem celebration for the second year in a row in the downtown area from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors will be available for people to buy food as early as 7 a.m. Flossmoor DJ Matt Kuhnen will provide musical accompaniment. Plus jazz bassist Vashon Johnson will be performing from noon to 2 p.m. in Beyond Borders Cafe, 1036 Sterling Ave.
Free Yoga for Kids at DQ. Serendipity Yoga will provide a free session from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at Dairy Queen, 1700 Ridge Road in Homewood. Classes include stretching and strengthening poses, breathing techniques and guided relaxation designed specifically for kids to enjoy. There is no need to register in advance. Just show up at the Homewood Dairy Queen and meet on the lawn under the big tree on the north side of the parking lot. No mats are needed. All materials will be provided.
Branch Chipping. Homewood Public Works will accept branches up to six inches in diameter (no pine or other evergreen, no shrub trimmings, no leaves or bags or super wrapped bundles) at the Municipal Service Center, 17755 Ashland Ave., from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 708-206-3470.
Beyond Jazz Show Featuring Vashon Johnson. Jazz at noon at Beyond Borders Coffee Shop, 1036 Sterling Ave. in Flossmoor. Vashon Johnson is a first-call electric bassist with experience in arena-pop, Broadway orchestras and exploratory jazz-fusion. His career includes touring and recording with icons like Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Wynton Marsalis, Seal, Ariana Grande, Boyz II Men and The Jacksons.
Readings from “Sitting Under the Tree: Poems Commemorating Juneteenth.” Sister Laila will be reading selections from her third book, “Sitting Under the Tree: Poems Commemorating Juneteenth” from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Rock Shop, 18109 Dixie Highway.
Butterfield Creek at the Caboose. Americana music by the local band performing from 7 to 9 p.m. at Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery’s caboose on the patio, 1035 Sterling Ave.
Homewood Outdoor Farmers Market. The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Martin Square on Martin Avenue between Chestnut and Ridge Roads in downtown Homewood. Vendors will offer fresh produce, baked goods, handcrafted jewelry, skincare and more. Food trucks will be on hand and ready-to-eat meals will be available.
STEM Saturday. Science play and learning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway.
Barb & Dan’s Road Ride. Riders of all experience levels can join the group which leaves at 8 a.m. from GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St. in Homewood. There is a no-drop group that rides about 20 miles and stronger riders sometimes go farther. Helmets required, daytime lights strongly recommended.
Off-leash Ride. A leisurely just-riding-around nine-mile ride every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St., at 8:30 a.m. sharp, ends back at the shop 9:45ish for donuts.

Youth Flag Football League. H-F Park District will host a flag football league for anyone from kindergarten through high school at Irwin Park, 1800 block of Ridge Road in Homewood. The season will include five weeks of regular-season games and weekly hour-long practices, followed by a single-elimination playoff tournament. Each player receives an NFL flag and jersey. Fee is $124 for park district residents, $149 for non-residents. Register here.
