Homewood police investigate 2 shots-fired incidents on West Side

Homewood police are investigating two shots-fired incidents, one late Monday, Aug. 11, and one early Tuesday, Aug. 12.

The first incident was reported at 11:16 p.m. Monday. Officers responded to the 2500 block of Spruce Road and found several spent shell casings nearby. The shooter apparently had left the scene.

Officers responded to the second incident shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday in the 3300 block of 183rd Street and found damage to an apartment building. Two rounds apparently were fired and resulted in a shattered glass door and damage to drywall inside.

Police said the shots might have been fired about 2:40 a.m. Initial findings suggest the incidents were not random. No injuries were reported.

The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating both incidents.

Police urge anyone with information about these incidents to call 708-206-3420.
