Homewood Art & Garden Street Fair. The second day of a two-day festival on Martin Avenue between Ridge Road and Hickory Road. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Music by DJ Nate Olson, karaoke for all ages from 10 a.m. to noon; Southside Soul Kings from 1 to 3 p.m.; Spaniels Forever from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be activities for kids, including free face painting from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nearly 80 artisan and food vendors.

Homewood Outdoor Farmers Market. The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Martin Square on Martin Avenue between Chestnut and Ridge roads in downtown Homewood. Vendors will offer fresh produce, baked goods, handcrafted jewelry, skincare and more. Food trucks will be on hand and ready-to-eat meals will be available.

Summer Reading Kickoff. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host Summer Reading Kickoff from 12:30 to 5 p.m. From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Guests can tie-dye a shirt or bag of socks. Bring your own. You’ll also have the choice to take home a Summer Reading iron-on to make your own Summer Reading swag. Sign up for Summer Reading here.

Summer Reading Young Writer’s Short Story Contest. Signup at the Summer Reading Kickoff, Homewood Public Library 17917 Dixie Highway. Workshops will be on June 18 and July 16 from 4 to 5 p.m. For anyone in grades 6 through 12. Theme is “Portal to a Lost World.” Maximum of 10 pages. Entries for the contest are due no later than July 28th. There will be two age categories: 6th through 8th grade and 9th through 12th grade. One winner in each category will win a $25 gift card. Winners will be chosen on July 31 and notified by email.

Teen Summer Reading Kick-off Pac Man Party. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host fun, games and reading from 6 to 8 p.m. to launch the Teen  Summer Reading Program. There will be a life-size Pac Man game, Pac Man pizza and an opportunity to beat your friends in minute-to-win-it games. For anyone going into grades 7 thru 12. Registration is preferred but not required.

Drama Group: Sylvia. A talking dog could steal your heart in the Drama Group’s production of “Sylvia.” The play will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, and again on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 12, 13 and 14. Afternoon performance at 2 p.m. will be staged Saturday, June 14, and on Sundays, June 8 and 15. The Drama Group has online ticketing at BookTix or tickets can be purchased through the box office at 708-755-3444. Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors or members of the military, $19 for students with ID.

Barb & Dan’s Road Ride. Riders of all experience levels can join the group which leaves at 8 a.m. from GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 183rd St. in Homewood. There is a no-drop group that rides about 20 miles and stronger riders sometimes go farther. Helmets required, daytime lights strongly recommended.

Off-leash Ride. A leisurely just-riding-around nine-mile ride every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St., at 8:30 a.m. sharp, ends back at the shop 9:45ish for donuts.

No Bike the Gem. The annual community bike ride along part of the Hidden Gem Half Marathon route would have been today but has been cancelled for this year.
