GoodSpeed Anniversary Celebration. After the two regular weekly bike rides (see below) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. GoodSpeed will host guided E-bike test rides, specials on accessories and clothing, free hot dogs and soda, wheelie selfies and a 15th anniversary Ho-Flo Bike Parade from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. After the parade, there will be a food truck, wheelie contest, beer and ice cream.

Barb & Dan’s Road Ride. Riders of all experience levels can join the group which leaves at 8 a.m. from GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 183rd St. in Homewood. There is a no-drop group that rides about 20 miles and stronger riders sometimes go farther. Helmets required, daytime lights strongly recommended. Anniversary twist: Photograph 15 items off of the I Spy list during the ride to enter a drawing for a free 15th anniversary commemorative T-shirt.

Off-leash Ride. A leisurely just-riding-around nine-mile ride every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St. at 8:30 a.m. sharp, ends back at the shop 9:45ish for donuts. Anniversary twist: All who summit Willow Hill will be entered into a drawing to win a commemorative 15th Anniversary T-shirt.

Mobile DMV. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a mobile DMV session from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign up for an appointment with state Sen. Napoleon Harris’s office.

Lemonade on the Lawn. Stop by from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a complimentary glass of lemonade to promote summer reading program at at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway.

Friends of the Library Book Sale. The sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway.

Monday, May 26

Memorial Day in Homewood. The Wally Burns VFW Post 8077 will host its annual Memorial Day service at 10:15 a.m. in the Veterans Memorial park at Olive Road and Harwood Avenue. The Homewood-Flossmoor High Marching Band will perform, as will a combined James Hart and Parker Junior High band. The event will include wreath laying services, the sounding of taps and a 21-gun salute.

Memorial Day in Flossmoor. Residents and community musicians come together for a remembrance event and sounding of taps at 3 p.m. at the Village Hall flagpole, 2800 Flossmoor Road.
