Flossmoor bingo card supports local businesses during shutdown

With the state’s stay-at-home order extending to April 30, why not have fun while social distancing using the Flossmoor bingo card?

Posted on the village website, the card consists of activities that you can do while self-quarantining. Spaces on the card include looking for toilet paper at Meijer, doing yoga with your dog, deep cleaning your house and going on a bike ride.

Those who complete the squares on the card will be entered into a drawing for a Flossmoor business gift card.

Assistant Village Manager Allison Matson said the card is a way to kill two birds with one stone.

“We were looking for a unique way to encourage residents to support our restaurants during the stay-at-home order,” Matson said. “Additionally, since our social media has been heavily focused on getting important information out to the public about the village’s operations in response to COVID-19, this was an opportunity to bring a little levity.”

The card prompts residents to buy pizza from Lou Malnati’s, make an online order from Jersey Mike’s, get delivery from Dunning’s, and buy a six-pack of beer from Flossmoor Station.

The card was inspired by social media, Matson said.

“We saw a few examples of the bingo on Instagram, so we decided to make a go of it for Flossmoor,” Matson said.

Participants are encouraged to post photos while playing, using the tag #FlossmoorBingo or sending them by email at [email protected].

There haven’t been any photos sent to flossmoor365 yet, but the village encourages residents to complete the challenge,by sharing their progress, Matson said.
