Homewood police responded to First Savings Bank of Hegewisch Friday afternoon to investigate a reported bank robbery, and James Hart School was temporarily locked down because of its proximity to the incident.
Police responded to 18200 S. Halsted St. at 2:06 p.m.
Witnesses reported the robber was wearing a face mask and implied he had a weapon when he demanded money from a teller. The suspect fled the scene westbound on foot. No one was injured during the incident, police said.
The Homewood Police Detective Division is assisting the FBI with the investigation.
